This essay aims to shed light on the idea of re-interpreting museum collections through site-specific art installations conceived for, and based on, their holdings. This is a strategy that embraces the time gap between the historicity of museum objects and the contemporaneity of the new setting provided by an art installation, which may also include items with no or limited exhibition history, as a tool for revealing the potential of objects within museum collections.
